Climate change in the Mediterranean: the Italian case and the impact of climate change on road and highway infrastructures”.
This was the topic of the speech given today by Valerio Molinari and Miriam Olmeda Alarcon, representing Ecogest and the Climate Change Study Centre, during the session dedicated to “Resilience and solutions for adaptation to climate change” at the second European edition of the Forum on Sustainability, organized by ASECAP, an association of 21 European countries and Morocco, and held in Vienna.
In their speech, Miriam Olmeda Alarcon, researcher at the CCSC, and Molinari, reference shareholder of Ecogest spa and founder of the Center for Climate Change Studies, took stock of the impact of climate change in the Mediterranean region, focusing on the negative effects already observed on the region’s transport infrastructures.
In his well-received report, Molinari also highlighted the need to adapt maintenance programs, starting with green spaces and environmental maintenance, to the new climatic challenges.
Today’s appointment confirms not only the international vocation of our commitment,” said Molinari, “but also the extreme attention paid by the world of European highway concessionaires to the issue of climate change. With the support of AISCAT, of which I have the honor of being a member of the Board of Directors, our mission will now be to place the issue of climate change at the top of the sector’s national agenda, as well as the tools needed to neutralize its effects on transport infrastructures.
